    Description : UNICEF Tanzania is requesting the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA to implement a project for "improved maternal and newborn health care through strengthening of blood transfusion and comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care (CEmONC) services in Dodoma Region, Tanzania". The proposed four years project will build on UNICEF and KOICA continual support and strong commitment to the Government of Tanzania in improving maternal and newborn health and survival in the country.

    The overall goal of the proposed project is to contribute to improved maternal and neonatal health that will subsequently contribute to the reduction of neonatal and maternal deaths in Dodoma region by addressing some of the key underlying factors discussed earlier. The project will improve readiness and utilization of quality comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care (CEmONC) and blood transfusion services in Dodoma Region, Tanzania. Specifically, the expected results of the project are (1) Increased utilization of quality CEmONC services at strategic CEmONC health centres in the four target districts; (2) Improved capacity of health workers in strategic CEmONC health centres in 4 target districts to provide quality CEmONC services; and (3) strengthened safe blood transfusion system to support CEmONC services in Dodoma region.
